Offensives from Kuki militants see no respite

At least one jawan of Border Security Force (BSF) was killed while two personnel of Assam Rifles sustained injuries in an encounter with suspected Kuki militants at Sugnu, today.
The deceased has been identified as Ranjit Yadav (36), s/o Mahindra Yadav of 24 North Parganas, West Bengal.
He was deployed at Practical High School, Serou.
Yadav is the second BSF man to have been killed in recent times.
On May 28, a BSF jawan was killed at the border town of Moreh.
Earlier an Assam Rifles personnal was also killed in a shoot out with Kuki militants.
It is reported that Ranjit was shot in the chest by a militant sniper at around 4.15 am.He was taken to Jeevan Hospital at Kakching but he later succumbed to the injury at around 6 am.
The corpse of the slain jawan has been sent to his native State after an autopsy at JNIMS morgue.
On the other hand, a combined team of State police, Assam Rifles and BSF exchanged heavy fire with well armed suspected Kuki militants in the adjoining area of Kakching and Chandel, during which two personnel of Assam Rifles sustained bullet wounds.
The two injured Assam Rifles personnel have been air evacuated to a military hospital at Mantripukhri.
The gunfight had not stopped till the time of filing this report.
It is further reported that, a massive search operation has been carried out at suspected hideouts of Kuki militants in Sugnu-Serou areas and 2 AK series rifles.
one 51mm mortar and two carbines along with ammunition were seized.
The State paid homage to the slain BSF personnel.
Notably, one Constable of 163 Bn BSF was killed while two Assam Rifles personnel sustained injuries in a fresh offensive launched by heavily armed Kuki militants at Serou, Kakching district this morning.
The BSF succumbed to bullet injuries at Jivan Hospital, Kakching at around 7.15 today.
The body has been flown to his home State after post mortem at JNIMS.
Chief Minister N Biren, some Cabinet Ministers, Security Advisor to Government of Manipur Sh Kuldiep Singh, DGP Rajiv Singh and many senior police and security force officers paid homage to late Constable Ranjit Yadav at Imphal Airport.
Constable Ranjit Yadav displayed conspicuous bravery, high degree of dedication and devotion during the exchange of fire and sacrificed his life serving the Nation, said a press release issued by the BSF, M&C Frontier PRO.
Meanwhile, all the bodies of the three civilians killed in another attack by Kuki militants at Kangchup Chingkhong, Imphal West yesterday were claimed today.
Angom Rakesh alias Inaobi (43) s/o Tomba of Phayeng Sabal Leikai, Angom Popo (58) s/o late Mukta of Phayeng Kharang Leikai and Pukhrambam Nikhil (42) of Khundrakpam Awang Leikai were killed in the attack.
After post mortem at JNIMS, a large number of people took the bodies of Rakesh and Popo to Phayeng.
From Khwairamband Keithel to Phayeng, people lined up all along the road and paid homage and farewell to the two men who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Manipur.
The last joumey of Nikhil from porompat to Khundrakpam was also greeted with a similar tearful scene.
