Imphal, February 04 2024:
Peaceful coexistence is the only hope for all communities in Manipur, and those challenging this must be faced unitedly, said former rebel leader RK Meghen.
He said this while speaking at a public convention held at Khurkhul today.
The convention held under the theme "Let's live together" was organised by Volunteers' Welfare Fund and Mandap Yumpham Relief Committee.
Speaking on the theme of the convention, RK Meghen said there will not be peace and development without coexistence.
"While understanding that coexistence is a must for peace and development, countries in many parts of the world are fighting with one another.
"The same has happened in Manipur with a community seeking to break peaceful coexistence that existed earlier," said RK Meghen.
He then accused the Government of India of not doing the "right thing" and "sustaining" the crisis.
"While the Government of India knows that the attempt to break Manipur's united structure is 'wrong', it has not taken up any right steps to correct this," he said.
The Meiteis have not seen or treated any community as an enemy.
The war that has been waged by the Kukis against the Meiteis now is not their sole doing, he said.
"The Kukis are able to wage war on the Meiteis for they have the backing of someone strong," the former rebel leader said.
Ashang Kasar, who attended the event, urged all communities to coexist peacefully.
War will only bring the end of all, he said.
