Imphal, September 20 2023: Beginning its venture in distribution of washable sanitary pads and garments to 29 select relief camps, Centre for Community Initiative (CCI) visited five relief camps on Wednesday and distributed the items.

Altogether 2,000 such items were distributed to inmates of the relief centres and the distribution will continue till covering all the remaining camps, a CCI statement informed.

According to the statement, the items were donated by people who have real concern for suffering of internally displaced persons and church members particularly those of Evangelical Baptist Bengali.

Employees of the CCI made aware the inmates on how to use sanitary pads donated by Project Baala in Menstrual Health.

According to the CCI statement, there have been complaints that inmates are often taken to relief camps in Imphal whenever a VIP or government official came to meet them and in the process deserving displaced persons are left out of any benefit.
