Addressing media persons at Thambal Shanglen office of BJP Manipur Pradesh on Sunday, BJP state spokesperson Johnson Elangbam said the decision of Congress party on the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is questionable if the party continues to term 'communal politics' initiatives of by BJP government to safeguard the state and its people rather than extending support.
Did any Congress central leaders commented on pros and cons of implementation of NRC in the present context of Manipur, he posed and wondered as to why the Congress members staged walk out during discussion on NRC in the just-conclude session of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
According to Johnson, Congress party is playing a 'politics of silence' on SoO abrogation and separation administration demand and hesitating to comment on key issues confronting Manipur and its people at present.
It would be better for the Congress party not to mislead the people with false propaganda merely for gaining vote, he said and made his suggestion to Congress party that rhetoric sans solid evidence would bring no good for the party.
While stating that BJP government has been striving to honour wishes of the people and work as per pulse of the people, Johnson Elangbam reminded the Congress party that implementation of ILP system in Manipur was made possible by the BJP government.
He also said that the passing of resolutions on SoO abrogation, NRC implementation and the Manipur Names of Places Bill, 2024 in the state assembly recently underscore BJP government's commitment to act and work as per pulse of the people.
