Imphal West lead Boxing medal tally

Imphal, August 29 2022:
Imphal West boxers proved their superiority to lead the medal tally in the 2nd Manipur Olympic Games Boxing being underway at Khuman Lampak Boxing Ring with the most 5 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals till Day 4 of the games.
Imphal East with 3 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals are second in the tally as Bishnupur are in third place with 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals.
In the men's (Youth and Elite 1982-2005) final bouts, Tompok Thokchom of Thoubal beat Biso Roundkhotinsan Koirang of Kangpokpi for the 48 kg category gold before Bishnupur's Soibam Yaiphaba beat Jackson Pukhrambam of Imphal West in the 51 kg final.
54 kg category gold went to Imphal West's Kingson Pukhrambam who beat Yengkokpam Jobison of Imphal East.
Laishram Edison also won IW a gold medal clinching 57 kg category title after beating Bishnupur's Laishubam Radheshyam in the final.
IW's Khumanthem Nongdamkhomba got the better of Shantikumar Laikhuram of Thoubal in the 60 kg final to add one more gold medal before IE's Chinglemba Moirangthem thumped IW's Thongam Leninson for the 63.5 kg category gold.
Chingakham Kirankumar of Imphal East fetched the 67 kg category gold with a win over Kakching rival, Leishangthem Boyai Meitei before Laiphrakpam Chandrabose of IE took the 71 kg category gold beating Naorem Medhajit of Kakching in the final.
The 75 kg category title went to Kakching's Leimapokpam Rahul who beat Khoinaijam Sanamacha of Imphal West.
Imphal West's fourth gold medal was fetched by Oinam Mangalthoi who shone in the 80 kg category final to beat Thoubal's Athokpam Shitaljit.
Bishnupur earned the second gold through Oinam Maikel who beat Imphal West's Huidrom Baskar in the 86 kg final before Dusarat Kshetrimayum of Imphal West sealed the 92 kg category gold by getting better of Lianlalmuan Damgawm of Churachandpur in the final.
