UCC beat NAPSA by 3 wkts to go second in Group A

UCC (Uripok) notched up a three wicket victory oyer NAPSA (Kha Imphal) via VJD method to move up to the second spot on the Group A point table in the 6th MNCA Plate Tournament on Sunday.
With the result, the Uripok side displaced SSU from the second place with six points from four games.
UCC and CDC are level on six points but the latter have a better net run rate of 2.946 (against UCC's 0.601) to sit atop the Group A standings.
On top of that, CDC have played three matches and they remain unbeaten.
In the Sunday's action, NAPSA elected to bat first but they found themselves at the receiving end of UCC's bowlers and ended up making just 98 after being bowled out in 28.2 overs.
Sengtung (19), Premananda (17) and Tingbram Dhanakuber Singh (11) were the batters who could score in double digits in the Kha Imphal side's poor innings.
UCC's fine bowling performance was a collective effort involving six bowlers as Thokchom Yoihenba Singh picked up three wickets and Arnold Leishangthem and Roshan Das claimed two scalps each, with Shyam Kumar Ray, Konsam Gulsoh Singh and Thangjam Cherry Singh chipping in with one wicket each.
In their run chase, UCC faced early jitters after their top four batters fell cheaply before Konsam Gulson, who batted at number 5, steadied the ship and guided his side to a three-wicket win with an unbeaten 42 off 81 balls.
Durgesh Sharma (13) and Shyam Kumar (10 not out) were other contributors in double figures for the triumphant UCC.
Rocky Yumnam bowled well for NAPSA to scalp four wickets, Heisnam Boney snapped two and Ajit Ahongshangbam took one in a losing cause.
Konsam Gulson was named man of the match for 42 not out and one wicket.
On August 16, YWC (P) will face YAC in a Croup B match at Langthabal Public Ground while SSU play CDC in their Group A meeting at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
