6th MNCA Plate tournament: UCC beat NAPSA by 3 wickets, seal semi-final berth

Y Rocky's four wicket haul went in vain as UCC beat NAPSA by 3 wickets for the third Group A league stage victory and confirmed their semi-final berth in the ongoing 6th MNCA Plate Tournament today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangsangbam.
NAPSA won the toss and elected to bat first.
They were however bundled out by UCC for just 98 runs in 29.2 overs before UCC posted a winning 100 for 7 wickets in 29 overs for the third win in four matches.
NAPSA faced stiff opposition from UCC bowlers from the onset and were reduced to 27 for 4 as Shyam Kumar Ray, Arnold Leishangthem, Thokchom Yoihenba and Roshan Das took a wicket each.
The slump continued with Thokchom Yoihenba removing Heisnam Boney (5) and Premananda Ahongsangbam (17) for the fifth and the second wickets to complete his three wickets haul (3/22 in 5 overs) and reduce NAPSA to 64 for 6 in 19.4 overs.
Roshan Das then completed his double removing NAPSA's highest scorer Sengtung for 19 in the 25th over before Thangjam Cherry trapped Rocky Yumnam lbw for 8 runs and Konsam Gulsan bowled out Tongbram Dhankuber for 11 in the 28th and the 29th overs.
Arnold then sent out Ajit Singh Ahongsangbam for 1 on lbw to wrap up the NAPSA innings at 98.In the chase, Yumnam Rocky (4/23 in 6 overs) of NAPSA wreaked havoc to leave UCC teetering at 17 for 4 within 4.5 overs removing four top order batsmen cheaply including Thangjam Anson (2) and Haobijam Ajitkumar (9) in the 1st and the 5th deliveries of the 5th over.
Heisnam Boney (2/11 in 6 overs) also culled two middle order batters but Konsam Gulson played anchor and smashed 2 fours and 2 sixes on the way to his unbeaten 42 and guided UCC to 100 alongside Shyam Kumar Ray (10 not out) in 29 overs.
Konsam Gulson who scored an unbeaten 42 after taking a wicket earlier, was adjudged man of the match.
