CHAMP, TRAU, MPSC cruise in MNCA Elite Tourament

CHAMP, TRAU and MPSC emerged easy winners in Saturday's fixtures of the MNCA Elite Tournament.
CHAMP recorded a comprehensive 102-run win over MODEL at Oriental College.
It was the Khagempalli side's sixth victory that saw them stay at third in the standings with 12 points from seven games.
They are two points ahead of fourth-placed REYS.
CHAMP opted to bat first and made 215 after being dismissed in 37.2 overs.
Thingbaijam Nicholson (59), Nitesh Sedai (41), Nars-ing Yadav (30), Moirangthem Thomas (20), Md Sharoz Khan (12) and Nongthombam Gul-son (12) were the main contributors to CHAMP's total.
In the process, the Khagempalli squad lost three wickets each to Robertson and Langlon-yamba, two to Dibak Naorem, and one to Bijenkumar.
CHAMP then needed 33.4 overs to stop MODEL, who could only muster 113 in their run chase.
The batters who scored in double figures for MODEL were Langlonyamba (22), Somorjit (13 not out), Deepak (14) and Veteshor (12) .
CHAMP's collective bowling effort saw Md Sultan Karim, Nitesh Sedai, Lairen jam Ansh and Thingbaijam Nicholson claim two scalps each while Ahsanul Kabir and Najarul Islam took one apiece.
Thingbaijam Nicholson took home the man of the match accolade for his 59 runs and two wickets.
TRAU, meanwhile, outshone CYCLONE by five wickets at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
Following their fifth victory, TRAU remain fifth in the standings with 10 points.
TRAU opted to held and restricted CYCLONE to 195/8 as K Homendro top-scored in their innings with an unbeaten 52 off 45 balls, followed by Kishan (25), Rohit (18), Santosh (13) and Raju (12 not out) .
For TRAU, Anand Naorem was the pick of the bowlers taking three wickets as Thounaojam Rishikanta snapped two, and Priyojit Kangabam, Dr Siddarth Shah and Abdul Kasim accounted for one each.
TRAU took 38.4 overs to chase down the target.
Both Karnajit Yumnam (67) and Pukhrambam Pru-fullomani (61) shone with the bat.
The opening duo's scores were supplemented by helpful contributions from Priyojit Kangabam (38) and Dr Siddarth Shah (21 not out) .
The winning side lost five wickets in their run chase.
Two each of their wickets fell to Bikash and Santosh, and one to Kishan.
Karnajit Yumnam, who scored 67 runs, walked away with the man of the match trophy.
At Thoubal, MPSC thumped Blue Hawk by nine wickets.
The winning side skittled out their opponents for 66 in 19.1 overs and then they knocked off the runs in 13.1 overs with nine wickets remaining.
Maibam Bijoykumar and Indraban S Koijam wreaked havoc on Blue Hawk batting order as the MPSC duo racked up four wickets apiece, coupled one scalp by Sarangthem Shangkar, to pave the way for their victory.
In their chase, efforts by Sagolsem Sunil (30), Nean-gom Sudesh (24 not out) and Potsangbam Bonem (6 not out) helped MPSC make short work of their target.
Indraban S Koijam was adjudged the man of the match.
