AR distributes water; conducts medical, awareness programme

Imphal, March 18 2023:
Somsai Battalion of IGAR (South) distributed 27,000 litres of water in seven localities of Ukhrul on Saturday to mitigate the acute water crisis.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the water was at Tangrei, Alungtang, Awongtang, Kasomtang, Greenland, Meizalung and Luiyaitang localities on the request of the governing bodies of the various localities.
The people of Ukhrul ex tended their gratitude for the aid extended by Assam Rifles and have urged to undertake initiatives for the benefit of the society, added the release.
Meanwhile, Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted a medical camp at N Satang village in Tengnoupal district on Friday during which a total of 173 villagers including children were examined.
Special focus was given on educating the villagers on contagious diseases and ways to prevent them.
On the other-hand, Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (South) organised awareness programme for local youth of Lamka village and neighbouring villages at HQ Veng on Saturday to help the local youth from remote areas fulfil their ambitions of joining the defence forces and in view of the upcoming Agniveer rally.
PRO IGAR (S) informed that the Battalion took the opportunity as an initiative to gather around 20 local youths from Lamka village and contiguous area for the awareness programme.
The basic aim of the event .
was to guide on career prospects, registration, documentation and recruitment procedure to join Indian Army through Agniveer scheme 2023 .
The battalion also assured the local youth all kinds of assistance including free registration, theoretical classes, training of computer skills, physical training and communication skills.
Pamplets were also distributed.
