CRPF unit launches handloom training prog

As a part of its civic action programme, Man-tripukhri - headquartered 69 Battalion CRPF under IGP Manipur & Nagaland Sector launched a handloom training programme and distributed handloom materials to needy women of Langthabal Mantrikhong Thongahanbi village.
The programme was inaugurated on Saturday by DIG CRPF M&N Sector PK Nay-ak in the presence of 69 Bn commandant Bajrang Lai, National Minority Morcha (J&K) in charge Paheem Ahmed and Zonal Railway User's Consultative Committee member Haorang-bam Ravikant Meitei.
The programme is being run under the guidance of commandant Bajrang Lai and P Ibemhal Devi, who is state awardee and chairperson the Mangang Salai Modern Handloom & Handicraft cum Multi Industrial Co-operative Society Limited, with the purpose of imparting training for skill development to the ladies in the field of handloom and weaving loom to create beautiful handloom products.
This training would enable women to earn sustainable livelihood, according to a press release.
A folk dance performed by Lourembam Dollyka Chanu of Uripok Sorbon Thingel and speech by Bajrang Lai were part of the opening ceremony.
The initiative of 69 Bn to bring economic independence to 10 families was appreciated by one and all, the release added.
