State level consultation prog held

Imphal, March 18 2023:
Disable People Organisation (DPO), State Platform of Disable People Organisation (SPDPO), All Tribal Disable Union Manipur (ATDUM) and Equitable Catalyst Society (ECS) jointly organised a onetday state level consultation programme on 'Inclusion of women with disabilities in Manipur, India in development plans and collection of secondary data on gaps and action plan of inclusion gendered disability' at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday.
Speaking at the programme, SPDPO president Md Yunus Khan opined that lack of awareness is the main reason for the differently abled people unable to avail benefits of welfare schemes launched by the government for them and urged all concerned to contact officials and institutions concerned to reap the benefits.
While expressing that differently abled people are unaware about 5 per cent reservation for them during recruitment, Yunus called for getting acquainted with provisions of Rights to Person with Disability Act 2016 and availing the benefits and welfare schemes being specially implemented for them in education, skill development and others.
The consultation programme was attended by social Activist Dr Kirart Yendrembam, Manipur State Commission for Women member Chuong-sin Koireng and Equitable Catalyst Society secretary Napolian Shaiza as members of the dais.
