Chingkhei Ching water released into Imphal River

As part of the government's efforts to ease the problem of water scarcity in Imphal area to some extent, release of water from the Chingkhei Ching water treatment plant into the Imphal River has started from late Saturday evening at Lamlong Thongkhong.
The Imphal river refilling process started some days after PHE minister L Susindro Meitei announced steps taken up by the government to mitigate the present water scarcity problem with release of water from Chingkhei Ching plant into the Imphal river one of the measures.
Minister Susindro along with officials and engineers of PHE department assessed the process at Lamlong Thongkhong at about 7.30pm on Saturday.
The minister told media persons at the site that release of water from Chingkhei Ching will con tinue for one day and opined that the water would swell till the Moirangkhom point by Sunday.
Water from Imphal river will then be collected by intake points of water supply schemes at Thumbuthong, Singjamei and others to resume supply of potable water after treatment, he said.
