89th Thang-Ta Revival Day observance today

Imphal, May 29 2022: The Huyel Langlon Thaang-Ta Association (HLTTA) Manipur has stated that the 89th Thang-Ta Revival Day will be observed tomorrow at Thang-Ta Shanglen, Yumnam Huidrom.

The observance is to be organised jointly by Thang-Ta Maheikol (Yumnam Huidrom), World Thang-Ta Federation, Asian Thang-Ta Federation and Thang-Ta Federation of India, said HLTTA, Manipur in a release.

It may be noted that the day is observed in commemoration of May 30, 1934 on which a resolution of reviving the artform of Thang-Ta after 43 years of prohibition by the British Government following the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891, was taken with Maharaj Churachand in the chair.

Valliant freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifices for the sake of erstwhile country, will be paid befitting tributes at the occasion, the release added.
