Imphal, May 29 2022: A 10 day long workshop cum production organised by Guru Abunghal Dance and Music Centre, Keishamthong Longjam Leirak under the sponsorship of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi concluded along with performance of 'Vrindavana Varnan' at JNMDA auditorium, here on Sunday.

JNMDA director Pukhrambam Bilash, Centre's president K Hemchandra and Media Theatre Institute president KB Sharma attended the closing ceremony as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Bilash hailed the role of the Centre in promoting Manipuri culture and made special mention its secretary cum instructor N Memcha, who is also an artiste and activist promoting Manipuri cultural dances and songs in different countries.

According to Centre's president Hemchandra, since its inception in 1993, the Centre has been promoting cultural dances and songs of the state.

It had organised several workshops cum production of Pena, Khongjom Parva and Holi Sankirtana.

However, they suspend activities for the last two years due to Covid-19 pandemic and Vrindavana Varnan is the first activity of the centre after the pandemic.

He also called for public support towards promotion of the culture of Manipur.

Speaking on the occasion, KB Sharma opined that culture can bring emotional integrity among the people and guide the youth in the right direction and sought public support to organisations, institutions and individuals, which/who are working towards promotion of culture.

Apart from the performance of the new production, the event had 'Leima Jagoi' solo performance by the centre's student Yumnganleima Leishangthem.

The new production Vrindavana Varnan is directed by Guru N Memcha and has Rojita Wangkheimayum, Thiyam Lanleibi Chanu, Nishika Yengkhom, Khangembam Milky, Kangabam Malemn-ganbi, Laishram Reshika, Sneha Yumlembam, Adhikarimayum Binita and Dhanapati Maibam as stage artistes.

Artistes behind the scene are Guru N Memcha & P Memcha (vocal), H Champion (Pung), T Sandip (violin), and S Anil (flute) .
