Assam Rifles (AR) made its first appearance in World Police Games a memorable one with two Gold medals.
AR archer team rifleman Sunder Singh hailing from Manipur was selected for 2015 Fair Fax World Police & Fire Games conducted at Virginia, USA from Jun 26 to July 05.He represented India at the games and brought laurels to the country.
Rifleman Sunder Singh kept the Indian Flag flying high by grabbing 2 gold medals in Long Bow Field Archery and Targets Archery tournaments.
Rifleman Sunder Singh is part of Assam Rifles Archery Team since 2007 and has won 8 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in National level tournaments so far.
He was also instrumental in breaking National Record in team Event Archery during National Archery Championship conducted at New Delhi in October 2014 .
According to an AR press release, Rifleman Sunder Singh hails from Manipur and honed his skills under the tutelage of Assam Rifles Archery team.
It is a rare achievement which indicates zeal, hard work, dedication and true sportsmanship of the individual.
It has become possible due to continuous guidance and rigorous training imparted by Headquarters 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) and whole hearted support of Director General Assam Rifles.
Director General Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) compliment Rifleman Sunder Singh for his achievement and Headquarters 9 Sector Assam Rifles for focused training of the Archery Team.
