Accused killer remanded to police custody

Imphal, July 07 2015 :
Khulem Jiten (38) of Naoremthong was on Tuesday remanded to police custody for ten days pending further inquries.
He was produced in the court of the chief judicial magistrate Imphal west at 10 am.
The court ordered his police remand.
It may be recalled that on June 30 he held his father, Kendrajit, at gun point and beat up following some property disputes.
Two younger brothers had rushed to intercede them.
However it was alleged that Jiten had opened fire at the two uncles grievously wounding them.
One of the uncles, Khulem Krishnamohon who was hit in the chest later died in the hospital.
The other uncle also sustained life changing injuries.
Angry local residents pulled down his house, torched a car, a two wheeler and other properties.
Besides the local residents announced that he was banished for life since he had become a threat to humans.
Since the incident he has been absconding.
However on Monday he surrendered along with his licenced pistol and some live ammunition.
The surprise surrender took place in the office of the additional SP S Ibomcha.
He has been formally arrested and case registered relating to homicide and arms Act.
When he was brought out from the court room several waiting women tried to pounce on him.
However police managed to spirit him away in the Black Maria.
The angry women said that the accused should be given life imprisonment since he cannot stay admist the people.
