Imphal, July 07 2015 :
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has announced to boycott the ongoing State Assembly session on Tuesday after the response of the State Government has shown relatively negative towards the demand for passing of a fresh ILP system bill in the House.
The Assembly has disregarded the demand for a fresh and suitable ILP bill and so the JCILPS has been compelled to boycott the session, committee convenor in-charge Khomdram Ratan told journalists at the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) office.
He said the 'bungling Government' is unwilling to withdraw the controversial Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers (MRVTMW) Bill 2015 and the hope for introduction of a new bill has already gone as only three days have left to end the House session.
The people are demanding a meaningful ILP bill and the legislators are not up to it and now they are engaged in a hectic discussions in the House to find ways to approve huge fund in the name of taking up development schemes and projects rather than pondering on the people's rightful demand for safeguarding the indigenous people, Ratan claimed.
The JCILPS leader then appealed to the women to take out a torch rally on Wednesday night to lodge a strong protest against the Government's reluctance to pass an ILP bill in the Assembly.
He alleged that the incompetent Government has no inclination to safeguard the indigenous people and therefore it has been sidelining the issue.
