NEROCA clinches 55th CC Meet trophy

Imphal, December 11 2011:
As the 55th Sir Churachand Singh, KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, 2011 concluded today at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal, NEROCA, Sangakpham for the second time clinched the champion's title after defeating four times champion Assam Rifles Soccer Team in penalty shootout after playing 1-1 draw in normal time.
Sports Minister DD Thaisii who graced the closing ceremony as Chief Guest presented the champion's trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh to NEROCA while Assam Rifles Soccer Team was presented with the Runners Up trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 .
The title of Male Football of the Year which carries a cash prize of Rs 15,000 was conferred to NISA's midfielder L Nabachandra.
The prize money is sponsored by the family of late Elangbam Ibohal in his name since 1995 .
The trophy was presented by Project Director of MACS Dr SK Chourasia.
Elangbam Ibohal who was born on January 20, 1931 at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai was the first International Football Referee from Manipur.
He left the world on November 10, 1994 .
L Nabachandra who bagged the title of Male Footballer of the Year from Keinou Thongkha has been playing as a midfielder of NISA since 2009 .
He also bagged the title of Best Player in the 6th Manipur State League.
He had also won the titles of Top Scorer and Player of the Tournament in the 4th Badousa Cup.
Moreover he had also represented Manipur in Dr T Ao Football Championship and Santosh Trophy.
Th Tababi of Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) was adjusted Female Footballer of the Year which carries a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5000 .
NEROCA, Sangakpham also bagged the Fair Play Trophy with a cash award of Rs 3000 .
L Premkanta of NISA was conferred the Best Goal Keeper Trophy which carries a cash award of Rs 5,000 .
The Best Player Trophy was awarded to Thangkhosem Haokip of USA along with a cash prize of Rs 4000 .
The Top Scorer Trophy was shared between Kanta of MPSC, Thangkhosem of USA and Gouro of AIM who scored three goals each in the tournament.
The trophy carries a cash award of Rs 5000 .
Ng Tomarjit of NEROCA was conferred the running trophy and cash award of Rs 3000 for the Man of the Final Match title.
The Oja Kaminikumar Memorial Trophy for Coach of the Year which carries a cash prize of Rs 5000 was conferred to S Premkanta of SSU.
The Best Defender Trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 5000 was awarded to M Ashok of NEROCA.
Best Midfielder of the Final Match trophy was awarded to L Thoithoiba of Assam Rifles Soccer Team along with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 .
L Ajitkumar was adjusted the Oja Benudhar Memorial Trophy for the Best referee which carries a cash award of Rs 5000 .
The Best Striker of the Final Match trophy was awarded to M Kamei of Assam Rifles Soccer Team.
