Imphal, December 11 2011:
A one day agricultural training programme organized jointly by SHEREMOM and the New Zen Aquaculture Farm was held at Lamboi Khongnangkhong today.
The agricultural awareness programme which was conducted for the fist time in Uripok area under the sponsorship of Central Agricultural University was graced by Prof N Iboton, Dean, CAU as the Chief Guest.
Dr Bijaya, Prof N Dhaneswar, Dr RK Tombisana and Dr Kh Ibohal were also present as resource persons on the occasion and spoke on different topics.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof N Iboton said that farmers from different parts of the state both from the hills and the plains have profited a lot from CAU.
They have sincerely taken advantages of all the facilities given by the CAU to the farmers, discussing the problems they faced, with the scientist of CAU.
But unfortunately, the farmers settling in Uripok area seldom come to CAU and discuss their problems.
It is a great privilege that the Uripok Development committee has recently approached CAU and expressed their desire to hold a training programme on agriculture for the farmers of the area.
He further said that during the 120 days economic blockade in the state, the people of the state suffered a lot due to the shortage of petrols and gas.
But the people of the state surprisingly didn't face any shortage of foods.
This was mainly because CAU along with the farmers of the state have produced sufficient amount of foods including vegetables and rice in the state.
All credit goes to the farmers of the state.
it is only because of them that all of us including the Ministers, MLAs, Doctors and police personnel have survived till today.
They should be given enough respect.
Selected farmers were also gifted with presents for their contribution made in the field of rice and crop production, on the occasion.
