12th Manipur State League KLASA, NEROCA strengthen position with emphatic wins

Imphal, October 10 2017: KLASA, Keinou and NEROCA FC continue to stay atop the table of the ongoing 12th Manipur State League carving out handsome wins against their respective opponents today .

In the first match of the day, a confident KLASA took to the field intent on pumping in as many goals as possible against lowly placed YPHU .

Completely dominating the match, KLASA started calling the shots from the first whistle and dominating the midfield stretched the defence line of YPHU with fast running down either side of the two flanks .

The first goal for KLASA came in the 29th minute when N Sunilkumar latched onto a defence splitting pass, outstepped a couple of defenders and created the right space to take a well directed shot that disturbed the net .

Up by one goal, KLASA continued to pile the pressure on YPHU .

Adopting a defensive approach, YPHU concentrated on guarding their citadel and managed to keep the marauding forward line of KLASA in check for some time and it was only in the 45th+1st minute of the match that African import Jerry Oneschampu managed to out run a couple of defenders and bang in the ball to increase the lead to 2-0 .

The complexion of the match remained unchanged after the lemon break, with KLASA continuing to find the gaps in the defence line of YPHU and repeatedly threatening their custodian with good ball control and fast running .

In the 55th minute of the match, KLASA increased their lead to 3-0 when H Piyabung rifled a power packed shot that beat the custodian of YPHU hands down to ensure a handsome 3-0 win for the League leader .

With today’s win, KLASA continue to maintain a clean slate winning all the 8 matches they have played so far to sit pretty on top with 24 points .

YPHU on the other hand continue to lie at the bottom end of the table with just 2 points to their credit drawing two and losing 6 .

The second match of the day also lived upto the billing of NEROCA FC as one of the leading teams in the State, as they ran riot and hammered in three goals and conceded none in hammering SU .

Y Gopi Singh of NEROCA did the star turn for NEROCA as he struck a hat trick with one goal coming in the first half and the two other goals coming in the second half.

In the initial stage of the match the two teams were equally matched, with the players from either side matching each other in every department of the game.

It was in the 27th minute of the match, that Y Gopi Singh struck home to open the account for NEROCA FC .

Leading by a slender margin of one goal to nil, NEROCA managed to cling onto their lead till the breather.

After the lemon break, NEROCA combined more cohesively and their players began to dictate the pace of the match .

It was at the fag end of the match that Y Gopi struck again when he found the target in the 88th minute to put his team up by 2 goals to nil .

Barely 6 minutes later during additional time Y Gopi again struck in the 90th+4th minute to round up his hat trick and the match for NEROCA .

With today’s win NEROCA continue to occupy the second spot behind KLASA with 19 points from 8 matches while SU are at the fourth spot with 15 points.
