Table tennis coaching camp concludes

Yaiskul MLA Th Satyabrata Singh has today said that players of Manipur will benefit from the India Government's scheme "Khelo India" (Play India) launched this year when it is properly implemented .
He was speaking as the chief guest in the closing function of the "21 days Free Non Residential Table Tennis Coaching Camp" organized by United Youth Organization (UYO), Bheigyabati Leikai, Imphal under the supervision of District Table Tennis Association at the community hall of UYO .
Reminding that the scheme was launched with the objective to identify and groom young sporting talents in the country, Satyabrata anticipated that Manipur too will get immense support in such areas like sports infrastructure, community sports and coaching when it is properly implemented in the State .
He also decried that Sports Policy in the State was not properly implemented in the past .
Asserting that sports is a way of life for Manipuri people, the MLA said that sports identify Manipur both in National and International level .
He further said that, grooming sports enthusiast from grass roots is a must in the State.
Hence, developing sports centre at local level and increasing the number of tournaments at local level is a good initiative .
While expressing happiness on many young players from the State being chosen to pursue sports career since their tender ages in different States of the country, Satyabrata also lamented that many players in the State often strayed midway and ruined themselves with intoxicants .
Such things need to be introspected and discussed at length from all angles, he added.
He also assured that all possible helps will be given from his side in establishing a table tennis coaching centre at Bheigyabati Leikai.
He further assured support toward organizing a local level tournament in the near future .
The function presided by Ok Imocha Singh, president DVBHLC was also attended by L Dorendro Singh, vice president, UYO, M Gojendro Singh, president, District Table Tennis Association, Th Jayenta Singh, secretary, Manipur Table Tennis Association, Th Prameshwor Singh, Executive Director, NIELIT, Imphal .
Altogether 36 children, including girls participated at the coaching camp which began from October 6 .
