Bishnupur, January 03 2023:
Expressing serious concern over barring participation of the champion team of Manipur State League in the Hero 2nd Division I-League 2022-23 and giving entry pass to another club, Keinou Library and Sports Association (KLASA) FC has sought government's intervention and putting All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) under its scanner.
Addressing media persons in this regard at its Keinou office on Tuesday, KLASA president Yanglem Norton pointed out that according to existing rules, the champions of Manipur State League should be selected to participate in the Hero 2nd Division I- League 2022-23 .
However, defying all existing rules, AMFA has declined participation of KLASA FC, which won the Manipur State League title, in the Hero 2nd Division I-League 2022-23 and has granted entry to another club in its place.
While pointing out that KLASA FC were the champions of the Manipur State League for two consecutive years (2021-22 and 2022-23) and the runners up in the 2017-18 Manipur State League, Yanglem Norton said that not entertaining a qualified team to participate in the 2nd Division I-League 2022-23 is very unfortunate and there seems to be an agenda behind the move of AMFA.
A memorandum in this regard has been submitted to sports minister Govindas Konthoujam following which a representation has been forwarded by the minister to AIFA president Kalyan Choubey to look into the matter, he said, while adding that any untoward incident arising out of the agitations launched by CSOs in this regard should be the sole responsibility of AMFA.
KLASA FC vice president M Ravi, secretary Ch Rakesh, manager M Kennedy and treasurer Dr Ch Ranjit were also present during the press conference.
