CM greets Guv on Imoinu, celebrations held statewide

Chief minister N Bi ren Singh on Tuesday met Governor La Ganesan at Raj Bhavan, here.
As per the social media post of CM N Biren, he presented a gift to the Governor on the occasion of 'Ima Imoinu Iratpa'.
Governor La Ganesan also presented a book 'Reminiscence' written by him to the CM on the occasion.
Ima Imoinu Iraat Thouni Thouram was held with religious fervours and colourful lights in all the Meetei households and as well as at different localities by different organisations and local clubs on Tuesday worshipping the Goddess of wealth, who is also regarded as the originator of doctrines for women in a family and the society.
The religious event, which has now become a mass celebration with efforts to revive lost culture and traditions, is held on the 12th day of Wakching as per the Meetei lunar calendar.
Apart from offering prayer for peaceful life and wealth, the event has also emerged as a festival of light for Meetei community, especially for those who follow Sanamahi religion with candle lights lit up in almost every household and worship places.
Chengei Ching Imoinu Thougal Lup organised the event at the sacred site of Ima Imoinu Ahong Achaobi located at Waithou Chengei Ching in Thoubal district in the presence of titular king of Manipur and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba and Yaiskul Lakpa, a royal courtier.
Meanwhile, the Ishei Loishang of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) concluded its three-day tour carrying the message of God dess Imoinu along with Ima Imoinu Iraat Thouni Thouram held at Lainingthou Sanamahi Shanglen, Haying Khongbal Uphong Yumpham, here, on Tuesday.
The tour covered over 15 locations, in different parts of the state.
Earlier on the day, the team visited Saiton, Torbung and Phoujakhai Ikhai in Bishnupur district and presented performances based on doctrines of Ima Imoinu.
Books containing guidelines for Sanamahi religion followers were distributed among the people during their tour.
LSTB vice-president Bidyapati Senjam, member secretary Maisnam Shivadutta Luwang and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Sougrakpam Hemanta were also part of the tour team.
Umanglai Kanba Apunba Lup (UKAL) offered prayer at the Ima Imoinu Khupham (sacred site) at Mount Koubru as Keishampat Mutum Leikai Imoinu Iraat Thouni Committee celebrated the festival at Keishampat Mu turn Leikai.
League of Callow Patriots also celebrated its 46th edition of the festival at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal with colourful display of lights and religious & cultural programmes.
Yaiskul MLA and Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Thokchom Satyabrata and Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar attended the event as members of the dais.
Ningombam Angouton Memorial Trust celebrated its 14th edition of the festival at Meetei Marup, Meetei Leipakki Shanglen, Wangkhei Thambalkhong with Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul.

Families of deceased Shumang Leela artiste Naorem Samu popularly known for his role as Abir Khan and Takhellambam Chinglen (Nupi Sabi) were honoured on the occasion.
Lifetime Achievement Award was also presented to renowned Shumang Leela artiste (Nupi Sabi) Sorokhaibam Robindro.
