Students' Union threatens to boycott exam

Cl College Students' Union (CICSU) has cautioned of boycotting the 3rd and the 5th Semester exams to be conducted by Manipur University from January 9 until the teacher transferred to the college joins duty at the earliest or the order for transfer of a college's teacher is revoked.
In a release, CICSU general secretary Chingakham Pradip Singh recalled that Education, Law and Legislative Affairs minister Th Basantakumar in a function held at the college on December 5 assured of addressing inadequacies of the college.
However, out of two Geography teachers, another was transferred to NG College, Lamphelpat.
By rule, the teacher should join the college along with the release order from the principal, but the teacher left without it.
Condemning the transfer of the teacher, college students shut down administrative block and even boycotted classes.
A memorandum was submitted to Directorate of Education (U) demanding to depute another teacher or to return the transferred teacher to the college.
Upon considering the protest seriously, a teacher from Oriental College, Imphal was transferred to the college on December 20, he informed, while adding that the teacher concerned is yet to report for duty till now.
Pradip further stated that the union has resolved to launch protest including boycott of semester exams if the teacher transferred to the college fails to join duty or the teacher transferred from the college is made to return and continue teaching.
