JAC to intensify agitation over kidnapping case

The Joint Action Committee formed against the alleged kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl student by her tutor Thokchom Kenedy Singh, has resolved to intensify its agitation with the support of different CSOs, student organisations and meira paibi associations till the culprit is brought to justice.
A meeting in this regard was convened by the JAC at Hayellabuk Lampak in Thoubal district on Tuesday.
The meeting, which was attended by leaders of various CSOs, meira paibi associations and student bodies including AMMWDO, AMMSO, MCM, AMMOCOC, AMMDC, VCPC, MYSU, FOCS, Jamiatul Ullema Manipur, MMWO, DAMS and AMMGSU, adopted a number of resolutions which include - taking up democratic form of agitation by the JAC along with other CSOs, student bodies and mei ra paibi associations till the kidnapped child is traced and handed over to her parents; legal actions against Thokchom Kenedy for misleading his female stu dents; complaining at different forums against the home department; submitting memorandums to the chief minister, DGP, Manipur Human Rights Commission and women commission; extending support to JAC by the different CSOs, meira paibi associations and student bodies present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Thoubl SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam informed that a team of Thoubal police is currently in Assam w ith the family members of the victim and is conducting search operations in Assam with the help of Assam police to trace the whereabouts of Thokchom Kenedy.
Thoubal police station women personnel are also in Assam, he said.
