GK helps FC Khanglai win Kohima tourney title

FC Khan-glai, Sadar Hills made a me- morable debut in the Royal Gold Cup football tournament held annually at Kohima (Nagaland) by wresting the champions' title of the tourna-ment's 22nd edition on November 11 .
With the final against Kohima Komets ending 1-1 at the end of normal period, tie-breaker was applied to decide the winners which FC Khanglai eventually emerged as goalkeeper Laltinmang Misao made to two vital saves during the penalty shoot-out.
The final match was won 4-3 and Laltinmang deservedly declared the tournament's best goalkeeper with the champion team's coach Kam-lun Lupheng bagging the best coach award.
According to FC Khanglai spokesperson Thongzalun Mate the Sadar Hills team had the approval of AMFA to participate at the Royal Gold Cup tournament held at Kohi-ma Local Ground from November 3 .
FC Khanglai overcame TT Aizawl, Mizoram 2-0 in the last four clash on November 9, he said adding that in Kuki dialect Khanglai stands for 'Youth' and FC football club.
The title win also fetched FC Khanglai top cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and the trophy.
The Club is said to have founded by Kuki Inpi and KSo, Saikul with the aim of grooming talented sportsper-sons of the Kuki-Chin-Mizo communities.
