Jiri students to resume stir

Jiribam units of AMSU, MSF, DESAM and KSA today announced resumption of total bandh along NH-37 beginning midnight of Nov 15 .
Accusing the Govt of failing to translate points of agreement into action, reached between the student bodies and the Education Minister held on Oct 25, the student bodies today announced to resumption of the stir from Nov 15.Speaking to reporters at AMSU District Committee Office here, the student leaders said the Govt had , during a meeting on Oct 25, agreed to return all 21 teachers of SSA who are utilised elsewhere to their parent schools in Jiribam or new teachers will be posted at the schools in their place whichever is feasible.
The meeting also agreed that shortage of lecturers/teachers at Jiribam Hr Sec School will be addressed by posting additional teachers or utilising the service of qualified teachers.
The students' representatives agreed to the suggestion of the Education Minister to set Nov 12 as the deadline for fulfilment of the assurance, the student leaders said while strongly denouncing the delay.
Cessation of construction work of Jiri-Imphal-Tupul railway , construction work of NH-37 would be included under the purview of the bandh, the leaders said adding all offices relating to Education (S) would be closed down from Nov 15 .
