Champ, Khagempali defeated REYS, Nagamapal by five wickets to cruise into the summit round of the 2nd T20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament being held at Langthabal Public Ground.
In a keenly contested first semifinal played today, vital contributions from Mohen 40 (50) and Tejbanta 25 (33 NO) proved decisive in helping Champ (105) scrap past REYS' total of 104 for six in the penultimate ball of the match.
Earlier, Champ bowlers led by Tomthang (2), David, Ratan and Ibobi restricted the Nagamapal side to the moderate total but found themselves in trouble as Krishnan (2), sanjit, Sreekanta and Iqbal Shah ensured the rival batsmen toil for runs.
Mohen was declared man of the match.
NAPSA, Kha-Imphal and Cyclone, Thangmeiband will play in the second semifinal tomorrow.
In the 24th match of the 1st Plate Tournament played today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangshangbam man of the match Praveez's four wicket haul helped Force defeat PCC by six wickets.
PCC's decision to bat first backfired as only 76 runs could be put on the scoreboard with Praveez and two wickets each by Munshir and Tasib bundled out the PCC side in the 25th over.
Apart from Jalli 22 (20), Sarparaj 24 (13) and Islauddin 16 (15) remained not out to guide home Force in 14.1 over for the loss of four wickets.
ESU, Wangkhei and CRAU, Khamnam Leirak will play tomorrow.
