Imphal, March 08, 2014:
Secretary of CPI Manipur State Council Dr M Nara today called upon the womenfolk to exercise their franchise in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, saying the assembly is a division of the Parliament.
Addressing a public rally organised by the Dr Nara Supporting MP Election Campaign Committee, Bishnupur District at Upokpi Mamang Community Hall in Bishnupur district today, Dr Nara, who is also the common candidate of the alliance of 11 political parties for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency maintained that a change can come only when people work and discuss with seriousness on the need to bring about a new Manipur.
He called upon the people, particularly the womenfolk to participate in the upcoming general elections, saying that MP election is equally important as the State assembly election.
Considering the various problems afflicting the State today like shortage of essential commodities and unemployment, etc, citizens of the State need to raise them in the Parliament.
Individuals who are unable to voice concern over such matters are not real leaders of the people, Dr Nara.
The people should be given at least a chance to decide and choose their own leader this time, the CPI leader said and added that those politicians who are quitting their own parties and joining new outfits are all spineless individuals who lack principle.
State CPI leader N Mangi, local elders, president of Dr Nara Supporting MP Election Campaign Committee, Oinam Shyamo, vice president Oinam Gyaneshwor, and a large number of people from different parts of Bishnupur district also attended the meeting.
