Sit-in-protest demands ex-MLA's release

Demanding immediate and safe release of former MLA Salam Joy arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Guwahati on October 3, a sit-in-protest was staged today at Samurou Awang Leikai Community Hall.
Wife of the former MLA, Salam Sunlata told the reporters that her husband was arrested on October 3 after an NIA official who knows each other before called him for tea.
The NIA is alleging Joy of having connections with KCP (Kesho group), Sunlata said, she and her family members do not have any idea about it till date.
Another woman who also attended the protest said, the people of Wangoi A/C need Salam Joy as he served the people even after the end of his tenure.
The people want his safe release at the earliest.
Banners and placards that read as, 'Ex-MLA should be released safely at the earliest', 'We need Salam Joy', etc were used during the protest that was taken part by around 400 people and staged till to 4 pm.
