Imphal, October 30 2013:
Parents Association of Ningthoukhong Model High School has criticised that the school is not a training place for teachers to become headmasters.
In a press meet conducted at Manipur Press Club here today, Pukhrambam Kumarjit Singh, President of the Parents Association observed that it is everybody's responsibility to groom students for a better society.
O Nabachandra has been discharging his duty as the Headmaster-in-charge of Ningthoukhong Model HS as the school has no Headmaster.
However, as the post has been lying vacant for long the Government sent graduate teacher Laishram Sanatomba to hold the post, Kumarjit Singh added and expressed dissatisfaction over this.
Claiming that while the two Headmaster-in-charge were tussling to hold the post of Headmaster-in-charge of the school, President of the Parents Association urged the Government to prevent the resultant effects of the tussle that the classes have not been completed and gave disturbance to the students.
He maintained that sending of an ordinary graduate teacher despite the existing Headmaster-in-charge being unfit for the post, indicated that the authority is playing a game to degrade the school further.
The step of converting the high school into an institute where training for 'to-be-headmasters' is given be stopped and the Government is appealed to send a suitable headmaster this time, Kumarjit said and also urged the parents/guardians to show concern for their wards; the Government to make schools education a disturbance free zone where rules are maintained and politics are avoided.
During the press meet, the association highlighted some demands which are to be pressed to the Government.
The demands were sending of competent headmaster to the school, development of infrastructure and making effort to inform people about the Govt and public responsibilities in educating a student for future role.
Kumarjit cautioned that it would launch intense agitation if the Government fails to translate the demands into action within 15 days.
