Imphal, October 30 2013:
Expressing concern over the current trend of series of bomb blasts and attacks in the State, Women Action for Development (WAD) has questioned the attackers about the motives behind killing and injuring innocent people.
In a press release, Secretary Sobita Mangsatabam said that the trend of planting powerful IEDs and detonating it amidst crowded and thickly populated areas has been constantly giving fear psychosis.
Many civilians have lost their lives and many have become disabled by the impact of the blasts.
Such immature acts left people in war like situations and create fear psychosis in the minds.
According to the data recorded from local dailies, 26 died and 77 injured (separately) in 121 cases of bomb blasts and bomb threats were reported from January to October 30, the release said.
It also alleged that the Home Department and its intelligence agencies were insensitive to check and prevent the current trend of violence.
People are nowhere safe and feel secured to move freely indicating that there is no rule of law.
This is not the first incident that occurred during festival time.
It is high time that people react against such incidents before it is too late, the press release added.
