Gold worth Rs 69 lakh seized

Personnel of 12 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) arrested two individuals carrying 14 gold biscuits (approximately 2.324 kgs) att he Khudengthabi check post today.
In a statement, Assam Rifles PRO said that a silver coloured Maruti van (MN01G 3002) was stopped for checking at the Khudengthabi checkpost today at about 3.45 pm and during a search of the vehicle, gold biscuits were found hidden in various places such as inside the shoes, inside the battery socket of the mobile phone etc.
A total of 14 gold biscuits were recovered from the individuals.
The approximate cost of the recovered gold is Rs 69,72,000.The individuals, Sabir Ahmed 23 S/o Md Turabali and Rafijuddin 28 S/o Md Hifijuddin both from Lilong and the recovered gold have been handed over to Custom Preventive Force, Moreh, added the PRO.
