Ukhrul police to take up strict traffic regulations

Ukhrul, February 26 2018:
SP of Ukhrul police, Worngam Ningshen has asked drivers to follow and abide by traffic rules in order to ensure safety and smooth traffic management in Ukhrul town.
The SP said this while speaking as the main resource person during a one day meeting on "Traffic Regulation" organized by Ukhrul Police Department in association with civil society organizations of Ukhrul district.
He said that with the rapid increase in the number of vehicles in the district, road accidents have risen sharply in the town.
Stringent traffic regulation will be enforced in the district to avert road accidents and ensure smooth flow of traffic, he added.
The prevailing culture of taxi drivers racing to pick up passengers has added to the incidents of road accident in the town, he observed and urged the drivers to observe traffic rules while driving.
To check unregulated driving and pull up erring drivers, traffic police of the district will strictly enforce traffic rules as per Motor Vehicles Act, said the police officer.
SDPO of Ukhrul police, Ringthing Hongchui highlighted the details to streamline traffic movement in the town.
He said a 2 day traffic awareness programme will be held on February 27 and 28 .
Speeches from UADC chairman Dickson Kumrah and TNL president Weapon Zimik marked the one day consultative meeting on traffic.
Leaders from social organizations like TNL, TSL, HKL and members of Ukhrul District Taxi Welfare Association, Ukhrul District Passenger Service attended the consultative meeting held at the Ukhrul police conference hall, Phungreitang.
