Imphal, February 26 2018:
National Sports University Haraothen Protection Committee(NSUHPC) submitted a memorandum to the Governor today urging her to consider certain proposals passed by public of Senjam Chirang, Senjam Khunou and Koutruk in connection with construction of National Sports University.
The committee wants the Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India and Government of Manipur to reserve and provide suitable job like Grade III and IV posts to the villagers of Senjam Chirang, Senjam Khunou and Koutruk because the required land gifted to the GoI is shared by the three villages.
It urged the State Government to build an office of NSUHPC to cooperate the staffs/workers of the NSU so that any unwanted incident can be prevented in future.
As the required land gifted to GoI is within the Sheet number 4 of 40 Senjam Khunou, the land was inherited to the people of Senjam Chirang and Senjam Khunou by two persons namely Chingangbam Jhulon Singh and Leitanthem Leiren Singh through State Durbar 1927-28, it claimed.
It also urged GoI and the State Government to reserve two blocks in their names.
The committee expressed desire for meeting and submitting a memorandum to the Prime Minister to lay the foundation stone of the NSU.
