Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal (TKLI) condemned bashing up of R Ramthing and William Konghay of Laikoiching village by three unidentified persons at near Lamlong bridge in the night of March 14. According to a press release of TKLI, the duo were stopped at Lamlong by the miscreants when they were heading towards Imphal from their village.
The youths first inquired whether the villagers had valid drive license or not.
A team of patrol police commandos who passed the place also enquired what was happening there.
One of the three youths answered about checking of driving license.
The patrol party left the scene after asking to resolve the matter among themselves.
In the meantime, one of the youths tried to snatched the motor cycle from Ramthing and William.
When Ramthing requested not to take away his bike, the miscreants dragged him down at the banks of Imphal river and beaten up severely.
Ramthing after regaining consciousness managed to reach one of his friends' house at Checkon after midnight.
He was hospitalised the next morning, the release said.
TKLI while warning the concerned not to repeat the such barbaric action in future urged clubs, meira paibees and Police Department to help in tracking down the culprits.
