The Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal (TKLI) has condemned the incident of assaulting of R Ramthing (42) and William Konghay (38) by three unknown youth on the night of March 14 between 8-9 pm at Lamlong Bridge.
In a press statement, the TKLI President, Ng Tharmi said that the incident happened when the two persons, who were riding a motorcycle, were stopped by three unknown youth riding another bike at Lamlong Bridge around 8.30pm.The two were blindfolded and thrashed till they were in an unconscious state after one of the three persons rode away the motorcycle of the two villagers.
The statement further said that commando personnel in a Maruti Gypsy came during the confrontation between the two persons and the three unknown youth.
It said that the commando personnel left the place after telling them to solve the problem on their own.
The statement alleged that the two persons were dragged down the Imphal River and were thrashed till they were in comatose.
After regaining normal state, Ramthing reached one of his friends' house at Checkon around midnight and he was hospitalized the next morning.
While condemning the incident, the TKLI requested the responsible persons not to repeat such barbaric action and it also urged to handover the motorcycle (Suzuki) at the earliest time.
The TKLI also appealed like-minded people, clubs, meira paibees and particularly the police authority in tracking the culprits and take action according to Law of the Land.
