Imphal, August 13, 2009:
All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) has registered its opposition to the selection of candidate from outside the North East states to fill the quota of NE candidates in the recently held entrance test for medical course at North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong.
Denouncing the move, a statement issued by AMSU stated that no candidate from outside the North East should be allowed to fill the quota reserved for candidates of the NE states.
The statement pointed out that the particular candidate selected for admission at NEIGRIHMS has sought to obtain a permanent residential certificate in Manipur.
It stated that no outsider should be issued a PRC by the state authority.
The AMSU further cautioned to initiate fitting legal action against any official issuing PRC to outsiders.
