Imphal, August 13 2009:
The Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has called upon all the people of Manipur to continue with various forms of protest movements such as Wakat meephams, protest rallies, Meira rallies and other democratic forms of agitation.
A press release issued by the Apunba Lup exhorted the public to pursue the collective demands for resignation of Chief Minister O Ibobi, punishment of the criminal police commandos, punishment of the police officers who attempted to cover up the fake encounter as well as unconditional release of the Apunba Lup functionaries.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi never flinched at the extreme hardships being endured by the people rather has been bargaining with the lives of the people.
A person like O Ibobi was never born in Manipur before.
Asserting that O Ibobi is the most incompetent Chief Minister, the Apunba Lup remarked that Ibobi's attitude to rule the land using his criminal forces by repressing the people is the thinking of a demented mind.
The only way of the atrocities of Ibobi and misery befalling the people is to pull down O Ibobi from his seat.
The Apunba Lup also expressed surprise over the silence of the lone woman MLA Landhoni (Ibobi's wife) when pregnant Rabina was shot dead by commandos right in front of her three year old son.
Under the alleged repressive rule of Ibobi's Government, people are unable to raise their voice despite their plight has cross the extreme, it observed.
The Government is utilising all the resources and powers at its disposal to suppress the people's movement.
In the process, many people have been detained under NSA while many others have been flogged and tortured.
Saying that police have been threatening the families of civil leaders, the Apunba Lup maintained that Ibobi should be held responsible for any untoward incident resulting from such police action.
Notwithstanding the series of acts perpetrated by the state to terrorise the public, all the people should not forget that they were born here, grew up here and they have the right to life.
However, Ibobi's Government have curtailed the right to venture beyond one's residential gates, the Apunba Lup decried.
Asserting that more than 5000 women have been widowed while around 10,000 children have been rendered fatherless under the incumbent Government, the Apunba Lup reiterated its call for collective struggle to save both the present and future generations.
It appealed to the public to continue with the various form of civil movements under the banner "Stop state terrorism, Resign killer Chief Minister Ibobi, Punish Criminal Commandos, Repeal AFSPA".
