The All Manipur Government Aided College Teachers' Association (AMGACTA) has urged the Chief Minister to effect conversion of six Govt aided colleges into full-fledged Government colleges.
The teachers' body has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister urging to convert six Govt aided colleges into a full-fledged Govt colleges.
The Govt aided colleges whose conversion into full-fledged Govt colleges are Thambal Marik College, Oinam; Liberal College, Luwangsangbam; Kakching Khunou College, Kakching Khunou; Standard College, Kongba; Biramangol College, Sawombung and Mayai Lambi College, Yumnam Huidrom.
The memo pointed out amongst others that although the several agreements and MoUs were signed between the Govt representatives and the executive committee members of the Association, no step has been taken up so far to fulfil the agreements thus leaving the teachers in a disadvantaged position.
It also rued that the Govt has recently decided to regularise 418 part-time lecturers and create 933 posts of higher secondary lecturers without considering the suffering of six Govt aided colleges' teachers who have suffered for around 35 years.
