Imphal, October 05 2014 :
In a bid to woo the voters of Hiyanglam A/C, the Manipur People's Party (MPP) today highlighted its rootedness on the soil of Manipur.
"It's not the time to sacrifice oneself for the benefit of others.
The most appropriate decision at the moment would be empowering the party which is exclusively for Manipur", said MPP chief advisor Dr L Chandramani.
Speaking at a flag hoisting ceremony of MPP candidate M Amutombi at his Phayeng Lamjao Makha Leikai residence, Dr Chandramani said that National parties have no time to spare for small States like Manipur for they are always preoccupied with issues concerning bigger States.
It would be most prudent on the part of Hiyanglam voters to elect the MPP candidate for the development and welfare of the State.
The by-election is bi-polar contest between National parties and the local party, claimed Dr Chandramani.
MPP president N Sovakiran said that people have already tested the capability of the Congress candidate.
There is no need to experiment with the Congress candidate for the second time.
The by-election provides a perfect opportunity to the people to elect a popular and dedicated MLA.
Saying that Congress Ministers and MLAs have divided the 34 polling stations of the Assembly segment amongst themselves for wooing voters, Sovakiran called upon all the electorates to teach the Congress party a befitting lesson as done in the Konthoujam by-election during the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
M Amutombi said that Hiyanglam A/C remains the most backward Assembly segment in the State because of the failure of the past and preceding MLAs to take up any welfare or development programmes.
Amutombi sought people's support for him in order to bring a revolution in the Assembly segment and make up developmental deficits seen in different aspects.
