Awareness drive to be launched

As part of the Campaign for Electoral Reforms in India (CERI), along with holding of an awareness programme, a human chain will be formed at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen at 2 pm on October 10 .
This was announced by CERI North East in-charge Dr M Nara, who is also the Secretary of CPI State Council, during a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today.
He said that CERI was formed in 2008 to bring a change to socio-economic, political and electoral systems of the country.
Saying that members of CERI comprise of intellectuals, academicians and right thinking individuals, Dr Nara said that two National level meetings, two international level meetings and a three-day workshop on India specific electoral system have been conducted so far under the campaign.
Maintaining that the current electoral system needs a change, Dr Nara said that the current system is the root cause for corruption.
CERI is supported by various National and regional political parties, he said and added that the campaign aspires to bring a proportionate electoral system so that not a single vote gets wasted and to liberate the country from corruption.
