Training programme kick starts

A four-day district level training programme for imparting education on drug abuse, women and child trafficking and its related crime, organised by All Manipur Anti Drug Association (AMADA), has kick started at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak from today.
Manipur Pollution Control Board Chairman Dr Ng Bijoy, M Padmini Leima of AMADA Mayai Loisang and Director of Prosecution, Ng Tejkumar graced the opening function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Dr Ng Bijoy while speaking at the function said that it is fortunate for the people of Manipur that civil society organisations like AMADA have been taking up anti drug campaigns at a time when drugs and intoxicants are taking the lives of many youths.
Sale and peddling of intoxicants must be strictly restricted apart from imposing prohibition on its abuse,
he added.
Expressing concern over large scale growing of poppy plants in the State, Ng Bijoy said that poppy plantation is permitted only in the States of Kerala and Uttar Pradesh in India.
Among others, Director of Prosecution, Ng Tejkumar also spoke at the function.
