CCpur plants trees on I-day eve

In tune with the green theme Churachandpur has adopted to observe this Independence Day, the district level officers along with students of several of schools today planted tree saplings along the catchment areas of Lanva rivulet.
Flagging off the plantation drive, ADCC Chairman Langkhanpau Guite said unless the people stop cutting trees and uproot even their roots, Churachandpur will be identical to a desert in the next 20 years.
He along with the deputy commissioner has exhorted the students to inculcate the need to preserve the environment.
The Independence Day eve observation also included an impressive celebration at Lamka Public ground where musical concerts was held.
The DLOs and public leaders have as well begun a badminton tourney since yesterday, as part of the country's Independence Day celebration.
