67th Naga Independence Day held at Tamenglong

The Nganping Battalion of Naga Army of the Government of the People Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) NSCN: IM on Wednesday observed the 67th Naga Independence Day at its designated Buning camp in Tamenglong District of Manipur.
The occasion was graced by RK.
Ringthim, Member of Steering Committee, NSCN: IM as chief guest and Makuilongdi CAO, CO Nganping Battalion of Naga Army and other high ranking officers were also attended the function.
Addressing the gathering after unfurling the Naga flag, RK Ringthim said that Naga Independence was declared on 14 August, 1947 under the leadership of Late Visarri Angami, the then President of NNC.
Independence is not a new thing to the Naga people as they have always lived independently.
It is an inherent historical fact handed down to us by our ancestor, he observed.
RK Ringthim went on to say that Naga Independence day is being celebrated without any disturbances till 1951 when the new born Indian nation began to invade the Naga country with all kinds of unimaginable violation of human rights perpetrated upon the Nagas.
As a result, after exhausting all human approaches to the Government of India, Nagas put up resistance at last and the Indo-Naga history has come to be marked with full of gruesome events till today.
"In defending the nation, my precious youths had lost their lives.
We pay our due homage to them", he said.
While appealing to the Naga people to be stand united and face the new challenges coming with changing situation, RK.
Ringthim observed that Naga national affairs is a protracted one as the enemy does not pursue the course of human reason, the Naga people will continued to protect, preserve and defend Naga nation till the end.
The commanding Officer of Nganping Battalion of Naga Army also spoke on the occasion and urged the Zeliangrong social leaders to think carefully for the future of Zeliangrong.
On the occasion, the Commanding Officer, Nganping Battalion of Naga Army promoted three of its cadres in recognition of their faithfulness and loyalty towards the struggle for the Nation.
People from surrounding villages participated in the function during which members of Piuluang Women Wociety show caseed the cultural dance.
A volley match was also played among the cadres of NSCN: IM.
