Works Minister inspects Imphal-Jiri road

While expressing discontentment over the sloppy manner of works being carried out by Border Road Organisation (BRO) along NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam road), Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar has informed that the matter will be discussed in depth with the Chief Minister and members of TDC.
Talking to media prsons on the sidelines of the inspecting the road connecting Uchathol to Leishaoithol along NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam road), Minister Ratankumar acknowledged that the road is in its worst condition as pointed out by TDC.
The matter has also been discussed with the TDC members and a joint discussion will be conducted along with the CM and TDC members very soon, he informed.

The Minister recalled that the condition of the Imphal-Jiribam stretch of NH-37 had already been inspected by Jitendra, Union Minister of State for Defence and the condition of the road was highlighted by the Chief Minister during the Review meeting held at Guwahati on August 1 where the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Oscar Fernandez was present.
The Union minister had given strict instructions to BRO to mend the road at the earliest possible.
Moreover, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had assured of sanctioning the required amount for repairing the Barak and Makru Bridge.
The Minister went on to inform that the State Government has no desire to take over the works of mending NH 37 from BRO.
But since the people of the State expect speedy mending of the road, the State Government will press the Centre to monitor the works of BRO.
During the inspection, the Works Minister was accompanied by M Lokendro, Chief Engineer of PWD; Ch Tiken, Addl Chief Engineer of PWD Jiribam and other officials.
During the course of the visit, the Ministerial team also inspected the Institute for Children with Disabilities, which is situated along Jiribam Sorok Atingbi.
The Minister assured black topping of the approach road to the institute from NH 37 .
