Imphal, August 14 2013:
Contending that the two individuals claimed to have been arrested by Thoubal police and 27 Assam Rifles personnel from Nungoo area have no connection with it, UNLF said the arrest is yet another demonstration that security forces continue to brand innocent persons at UG activists.
Reacting against the statement issued by SP (Thoubal) and published in some State dailies with regard to the arrest of the duo, a UNLF hand-out by its publicity officer M Shak hen said apart from the two persons being siblings as well as relatives of a UNLF/MPA member they have nothing to do with the organisation.
Laishram Kunjo's son L Kishan (27) and his sister Laishram (ningol) Ningthoujam Ongbi Sana of Nungoo Awang Leikai, whom the SP claimed to have been arrested by the combined security team on August 11 have no relation, whatsoever, with the UNLF, asserted the outfit's publicity officer.
Construing that arrest of relatives/kin of insurgent groups' members is a part of the indian security forces' ploy of exerting pressure upon the UG cadres to give up the revolutionary movement, Shak hen contended that past incidents of arbitrary arrest and killing of innocent civilians in stage-managed encounters are evidence enough that sinister campaign is being sustained by the security forces to subdue to ongoing movement by any means.
