Works on Imphal-Jiribam road: Works Minister not pleased with BRO

Contending that the work progress along NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) being undertaken by BRO is not satisfactory, Works Minister Kh Ratankumar has said that the matter will be discussed with Chief Minister O Ibobi.
The Minister today visited Jiribam to inspect the condition of Uchathol to Leishabithol road.
Speaking to reporters, Kh Ratankumar said, as the condition of NH-37 is well understood by Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC), representatives of the Council would also be invited in the discussion with the Chief Minister.
Saying that the condition of the highway was recently inspected by the Chief Minister and Union Minister of State for Home, Jitendra, Ratankumar said that the Chief Minister had also submitted a detailed report on the conditions of the highway to the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Oscar Fernandez during the review meeting held in Gu-wahati from August 1 to 3 .
Informing that the Union Minister has instructed BRO to complete construction of NH-37 at the earliest, Ratankumar said that Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Secretary has assured to sanction the necessary fund for the construction of Barak and Makru bridges soon.
Clarifying that the State Government does not intend to take over the highway from BRO, Ratankumar said that the Government is however keen on making it motorable at the earliest
possible time.
Regarding Uchathol to Leishabithol road, the Works Minister said that the 8-km long road is important as it is being used for transportation of material for construction of railway tunnels.
