Rotary Club of Imphal, Rotary International Districtict 3240 has been awarded the Best Rotary Club among the eleven countries comprising the Zone-6 of Rotary International.
The Zone-6 consists of India, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, and Thailand.
The Changemaker Winner of Zone 6 award was conferred to Rotary Club of Imphal by the Rotary International President, Kalyan Bannerjee, the 3rd Indian to head the world's oldest service club, from its headquarters in Chicago, USA.
According to a statement issued by the president of RCI, Rotarian Dr Ng Indrakumar, the award has been conferred in recognition of the humanitarian and community service undertaken by Rotary Club of Imphal since its inception in 1974.The RCI has been doing many humanitarian services like providing free oxygen cylinders, free computer training, sewing/embroidery training, mega medical camps, child insurance programme for students, nutrition programme and scholarships to students of Children Home, annual tree plantation, and participation in the global polio eradication programme in addition to Districtibution of wheelchair and hearing aids.
