Senapati Brigade of the Red Shield Division apprehended five cadres of various UG organisations in the past 48 hours, said a PIB (DW) release.
It is informed that troops of 5 Assam Rifles apprehended an active NSCN (IM) cadre from Senapati market on the intervening night of January 22-23 and recovered a .32 mm Pistol and live round from him.
The apprehendee, handed over to Imphal West police station, reportedly revealed that he was operating in the area with the intent of disrupting the forthcoming assembly elections.
Troops 43 Assam Rifles of the Red Shield Division apprehended a KNF (P) cadre identified as Letkholun Kipgen from Shantipur area while carrying out extortion, maintained the release adding that four extortion slips were recovered from the cadre, who has been handed over to Sekmai PS.
In another operation, 10 DOGRA apprehended two ZRO cadres from Leimakhong.
The cadres identified as SS Asst Director Satsei of Harouthel and Lamneijang Vaiphei of Lilanwaiphei were apprehended while they were carrying out extortion in Leimakhong market.
Both have been handed over to Sekmai PS.
Troops of 10 DOGRA also apprehended an NSCN (IM) civil wing cadre identified as SS Raja Peyu Ch Chimpo from T/Waichong village while he was carrying out extortion.
He was later handed over to Imphal West PS.
Meanwhile, troops of 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector launched operation at Kairak area on January 22 leading to the arrest of a PLA cadre namely (No 3050) Maibam Etomba Meitei alias Chalamba (21) s/o M Plando Meitei of Awang Sekmai Leikai, said a PRO IGAR (S) release adding that the individual has been handed over to Kakching police station.
On the otherhand, troops of 31 AR of 26 Sector carried out operation at Dalpatti in Moreh on January 22 and apprehended three persons from whom 175 kgs of banned Sandar wood have been recovered.
The PRO release identified the trio as Mehendra (24) s/o Narayan, Mantosh (30) s/o Biren (both from Moreh Ward No 2) and Bylay (43) s/o MA Jat of Tamu in Myanmar.
The release also informed that six Bangladeshis have been rounded up by troops of 27 and 28 AR of 9 sector from Lilong Bazar area on January 22. Stating that they were arrested for not possessing valid documents, the PRO release identified them as Md Qalim s/o Fakar Mohammad, Nur Alam s/o Faruk Ahmed, Md Inoz s/o Ali Johar, Zahir Hussalan s/o Habbibullah, Zafar Hussain s/o Azimullah and Md Touchi s/o Sheraj.
All the apprehendees have been handed over to Lilong police station, it added.
